Outdoor Adventures Beside Loch Ness

The private grounds at Point Clair House are surrounded by 200-year-old oak trees, colourful flowers and an atmosphere of complete peace. Find a quiet bench to admire the views or settle down with a good book. Two custom-made oak swings, each engraved with Nessie, provide another relaxing spot to enjoy the gardens.

If you’re feeling active, gather the family for lawn games and outdoor activities. You’ll also find fishing rods and equipment in the garden shed, ready for a day of fishing on Loch Ness.

For a memorable evening outdoors, take the BBQ, seating and campfire equipment down to the shingle bay. You can even bring a tent and spend the night beside the water, falling asleep to the gentle sound of the loch.

The sheltered shore also has private moorings, making it possible to launch kayaks or dinghies and explore Loch Ness from the water.

Discover Highland Wildlife

Wildlife Around Point Clair House

Point Clair House is surrounded by nature, and the private grounds are home to an ever-changing cast of Highland wildlife. From bats swooping through the summer twilight to owls calling from the surrounding woodland after sunset, there is always something to discover.

Around 15–20 grouse make their home at the back of the open lawn, occasionally joined by wild pheasants. From morning until late afternoon, they can often be seen wandering across the grounds in an entertaining procession.

Listen carefully across the water and you may hear the distinctive calls of stags. Red, roe and sika deer can all be found in the area, with winter offering particularly special opportunities to spot deer drinking at the loch or a majestic stag moving quietly through the grounds.

Keep an eye out for the smaller residents too. Shy red squirrels, pine martens and the occasional feral goat can sometimes be spotted around the property and the high banks of Loch Ness.

For nature lovers, staying at Point Clair House offers a wonderful opportunity to experience the wildlife and peaceful natural surroundings of the Scottish Highlands.
