The private grounds make for a spectacular wedding venue. Point Clair House can cater for both smaller weddings and large group parties – making the most romantic day of your life even more perfect. Why not set up a marquee with outside catering in the garden?

The beautiful grounds also make for a perfect and private backdrop for your wedding photographs.

AT THE BEACH

Summer nights on the lochside are the perfect time for BBQs. The light evenings stretch on to 11pm in the height of summer, so where better to have a late-night campfire and woodsmoke-flavoured food?

Enjoy a beach barbecue on the shingle at the loch’s edge, where you’ll find a readymade campfire spot. However, if the weather is typically Scottish, you can retreat to the purpose-built BBQ hut at the back of the house.

Point Clair House

variety of choice

The lodge’s private grounds contain 200-year old oak trees, a dazzling array of flowers and an atmosphere of total peace. Choose from one of the quiet benches to admire the view or immerse yourself in a good book. Relax on the two custom-made swings you’ll find in the grounds, each made of thick oak panels and engraved with Nessie. Or, if you’re feeling active, why not round the family up and use the lawn for sports or garden activities?

You’ll find a shed containing fishing rods and all the equipment you’ll need for some outdoor fun. All the BBQ, seating and campfire equipment can be taken down to the shingle bay – bring your tents, set up camp and be soothed to sleep by the lapping water. The shore has its own sheltered moorings if you’re planning on launching kayaks or dinghies onto the loch.

Wildlife

It’s not just the guests that keep coming back to Point Clair House. You never know what creatures you might see sneaking through the gardens. During the summer, the uninterrupted twilight skies are filled with bats, dipping and swooping in the dusk. As soon as the sun sets, the woods come alive with the sound of owls. Around 15-20 grouse make their home at the back of the open lawn, joined by the occasional wild pheasant. From morning to late afternoon, they march the grounds like a comical army.

Don’t let those loud bellows alarm you. It’s just the stags calling across the water. You’ll find Red, Roe and Sika deer here. During winter, when the days are short and cold, you can spot deer drinking from the water and, if you’re lucky, you might see a majestic stag slinking through the grounds.

Shy, red squirrels have been known to tiptoe around the area, along with pine martens and the occasional feral goat on the high banks of the loch.
